I want to listen to certain jamming signals as heard by the victim
operator.
Thanks to Richard LaCroix, there are a small number of jamming signals which can be
heard. Of course, your computer must possess the capability to play audio clips
(e.g., RealPlayer). Hyperlinks to some audio clips are contained within the
applicable glossary term. Click HERE to visit a
definition of ELECTROMAGNETIC JAMMING where you will be able to sample several of them.
I want to get more information than what is contained under a glossary
term.
If you want to research a term further, click all the hyperlinks that may be contained
in the definition, and link to the reference citation for each (including the term
itself). This should provide a start for pursuing any research. You may also
want to go to the home page and search GOOGLE (and
other search engines) using the term (enclose it in quotation marks).
I would like to chat with the LEXICON developer and, perhaps,
others.
Since no interest was indicated when the chat room was available, the feature has been
discontinued.
Where are the cited references held?
Nearly all of the cited references are held by the developer (Joe Cyr) in Sarasota,
Florida.
I would like to contribute to the LEXICON (add or correct a
glossary term, or offer new acronyms).
Please click on CONTRIBUTE TO THIS
LEXICON here, or on the Home Page
to make contributions. Be sure to include your e-mail address so that I can contact
you if need be.
I know of a related web site or some sound files or video clips which
should be linked to a term within the LEXICON.
Just send me the URL address of the files, and a short description of what the user
will see or hear. If it is not obvious, please indicate the location that I should
place the link in the LEXICON. I will acknowledge all contributions.
What are the general sources for the contents of the LEXICON?
Please see the SOURCES section
on the Home Page, or go directly to the BIBLIOGRAPHY
TO review the listed references.
Does any of the information in the LEXICON have a security
classification above UNCLASSIFIED?
No. All information contained in this web site comes from sources which are
UNCLASSIFIED or from periodicals which are available to anyone.
Some of the URLs cited in the LEXICON are not available.
Webmasters and site owners change and/or remove URLs from time to time. Cited
URLs now unavailable were in fact available on the dates indicated.
What is the significance of the "NEWLY-INCLUDED TERMS" table
shown on the home page?
I place two of the terms from the most recent update to the LEXICON in this
table. This does not imply any "newness" of the terms, which may have been
taken from a source document that is not current.
Many non-EW terms seem to be creeping into the Lexicon.
The current literature is addressing anti-terrorism and homeland security which are
employing many of the techniques and equipment of the military.
What are the "nostalgia" features?
The "Radarman's Milieu
(1950s)" page summarizes my recollection of Navy electronics when I was a radarman on
a Destroyer Escort (USS Parle - DE 708) in the early 1950s. Of late, I have come
upon interesting items related to the military or to the Cold War; some of these sources
were obtained at yard sales! All seem to me to be of potential interest to others,
so I have included it. Therefore, you see "Navy and international signal
flags," a page on the International Morse Code, a 1963-era survival guide, and
even songs of the World War I era!
